As the financial world struggles to absorb increasing consumer debt levels and default rates, Encore Capital Group, Inc. is committed to finding innovative ways of providing economic value to credit originators, consumer debtors, and our shareholders. We continue to refine our collection processes and evaluate new collection strategies to supplement the traditional call center approach. At the same time, we have developed and continually update our sophisticated proprietary software that manages the movement of data, accounts and information throughout the Company. We believe that our multiple dynamic approaches to collection and information management increase our opportunity to achieve enhanced returns on our portfolio investments and for our shareholders.

Leveraging Intellectual Capital

We believe in an innovative technology-based approach to collections in which analysis is performed at the account level. We base our purchase decisions primarily on our analysis of the specific accounts included in a portfolio utilizing a robust database of consumer information gathered from approximately 7.0 million accounts. The more conventional approach is to base portfolio purchase decisions primarily on numerous aggregated portfolio-level factors including the lender/originator, the type of receivables to be purchased or the number of collection agencies the accounts have been placed with previously. By leveraging our vast intellectual capital to continually challenge conventional wisdom, Encore Capital Group, Inc. successfully executes two key strategies - to buy right and collect well.
